Abbie Clark

find Photography truly fascinating, from a young age I have always been a creative person and think that imagery is the best way to express feelings and capture moods.I am very ambitious about the future and look forward to a career in all types of photography. The thought of my photos being able to reach people and live on in either a magazine or gallery truly thrills me.

This picture was taken outside of my college work in London and simply taken because I love tulips and thought it would look good to create a contrast between nature and city life.

I feel very influenced by the famous photographer Joe Cornish as he also strives to create outstanding landscapes of Northern England

I think the colours and shadows work really well together and add to the texture, drawing your eyes making them dart between the different areas of your image which also looks very effective.

This photo was taken as part of my rhythm and cycles exam theme, and I chose the cycle of the sun as I wanted to try and come away from the stereo typical sunset images. I was influenced by the beautiful oriental colours/tones and unique shapes and lines made by Chinese bonsai trees, even though the picture was only took in my local park.

This photo really creates a vast depth of field which I think is essential when taking cityscapes. I also like the gradual subtle pink tones that compliment with the birds feathers.

In this photo I feel I have been successful in getting the mood I wanted to create from the photograph, I still wanted to capture the old New York and make it look very vintage and classic looking. Moving away from the new hi-tech image that New York has today, which you can see in my next image.
Since I bought my SLR camera I have never stopped exploring how to create affective images without relying on Photoshop to do this. By changing the shutter speed and using a tripod you can really create a unique image and that can add good motion to your pictures.
I think this photo is a great representation of Venice culture as I have captured all natural forms- land, air, water and life . It was hard to get the timing well as I new how fast my boat was going compared to the gondolas however I think I have created a good angle which also includes the light from the sun which is well highlighted in the water.
At the end of my first module we had to apply our photography so I created many book and CD covers, this was my favourite out of them all as I really think it gives off the same mood and feel as the original, because of the use of similar typefaces, greyscale and expression of the model.
I love exploring different techniques using Photoshop such as downloading new brushes and collecting different images and putting them together to create one image with a strong theme. I also practise this a lot in my graphics class. (The photo is also mine which I have turned black and white with a yellow tint to make it look sepia adding to the aged affect.)
I really love how you can see right through the tree’s and I am genuinely enthused by trying to find different angles allowing people to experience a simple park in a very artistic and dramatic way.
To make this photo really fantastic I knew I had to get at a very high level and perfectly centred to create the best composition and balance as I could. I feel I have done this well and the beautiful colours from the water and buildings really add to how great it looks.
